1360 The Source going Buh-Bye?

when you can't sell $1 spots...time to move on...

When's 96.5 switching??? sorry cheap shot..don't reply Wylly...just a joke

I know it $2 ;D

So what happens to WMOH 1450 - Hamilton/Cincinnati (billed as "Cincinnati's ESPN Radio")?
Actually, a much better signal than 1360 - especially at night in the ever-growing northern suburbs of the metro.

Sorry ncicny, but WSAI is a much better signal than WMOH. WSAI covers the market during the day and is pretty good at night. WMOH doesn't come close. It will be interesting to see what happens at 1450.

I've had time to think clearer.....Verns AM's go to Classic Contry......We have Klove at 4 places on the dial....why not Mullen's Classic Country 4 places in the dial. Would it be WMOI keeping the theme "The I's have it?"

I knew "The Source" wouldn't last long, but at my house WMOH comes in a thousand times better than WSAI at night. I guess Clear Channel is trying to keep the late-night sports audience from 96.5 since WCKY does their bible thumping overnights. WSAI's signal has always baffled me. I was listening to it one night a year ago at the Rave movie theater in West Chester and it came in clear as a bell. On the way home, as soon as I hit the Fields Ertel-Route 42 intersection it totally fizzled out. Stupid FCC and protection and whatnot. I'm in the freaking listening area, why should I have to listen to some other station in West Virginia or wherever?

Oh and does anyone know if Phil Hendrie will make a return to Cincinnati? I have a hunch WKRC won't take him because ABC is forcing "The Great One" down their throats, but he's been on 1360 before...

Since Phil Hendrie is with TRN He could end up on 96.5 replacing SRN

I doubt it. I have a source that said 96.5 is keeping SRN overnights to bring in late-night sports listeners during 1530's preaching hours. Even with WSAI going sports, 96.5 will probably keep the sports, hoping that their better nighttime signal will still bring in listeners.

KRC won't take him because he doesn't fit the audience

Amen on that Elephant. 1KW on 1450 vs 5KW on 1360. Even on paper 1360 has a huge edge. WSAI 1360 had huge shares (50 shares, 60 shares, 70 shares?) in the 1960's with that exact signal on those exact towers. I grew up on that signal...it was fully adequate in the day & they got requests from Atlanta at night. The two Indianapolis AM rockers did well with much less signal than WSAI.

whoa!....when did phil "come back"? he's been "retired" for what - a year??? website looks like nothing ever happened. i know his tv show flopped, but i thought he was doing more writing, less acting. anyone???

Been around long enough to know the difference between 1360 @ 5K vs. 1450 @1K.
And, yes I remember the great signal WSAI had "back in the day" - 1960's/1990's - whatever.
Reality: In 2007 their signal - in particular at night - sucks - plain and simple. Something has changed over the years and not for the best.
Example: Less than 10 miles from the 1360 towers (Blue Ash/Sharonville) you can't even hear them after the sun goes down. CC won't spend the money on an upgrade anytime soon -

But ncincy, that's not unusual at all. It's not unusual for a station to lose a part of town at night due to their directional pattern. It's interesting with WSAI that you can hear them in Savannah, Georgia but not Hamilton at night. If you live near WMOH's NON-Directional signal, you won't notice any difference day to night. But if you live in say, Hamilton or Blue Ash during the day you get a good signal until the night pattern kicks in. Check out where the nighttime nulls are:

http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WSAI&service=AM&status=L&hours=N

Blue Ash, Boone County, and Hamilton! But, the signal is good in Middletown and Dearborn County. Go figure.

except for the syndicated stuff on WSAI the afternoon block is the WKRC Guys best of highlights if i remember the on air schedule right. and we know those guys have there weekend spots on the KRC

Gee I wonder how long this will last before the people at CC see what a mistake they have done and try to give good old 'DJO a run for their money by taking 1360 back to the "oldies" format. It seems like they are just rotating formats there anyway ::)

Trees. They've gotten bigger over the years. Use Google Earth or Google Maps and go to 39.24750, -84.53111, and you'll see all of the trees around the base of the stick. I don't know how tall they are, but trees can really muck up an AM signal if conditions are right.
