A few years ago this station used to be really strong here in Destin. They are listed as running 5 kW daytime non directional. Now I can barely get them. Anyone know what happened?
WCOA does not own its own tower site, and in 2021 the owner in apparently elected to reduce the tower height to 199 ft. so they would not need to be lit. However, this was only a reduction of about 7 feet (2.2m). This should have had a relatively minimal effect on the daytime signal.

Thanks! Ironically I've also heard super weak WROA 1390 in Gulfport, MS during the day. With only 900 watts! Extremely difficult. Probably because I'm on the coast.
WCOA used to be about as strong as 1330 WEBY. Now they are only a fraction of that. If you ever travel to the Destin or Ft. Walton area, try listening to them. You'll see what I mean.
