1390 WEOK Should Add Local Programming

Its been a while now since WEOK flipped to True Oldies, just wondering why they haven't added any local programming on their station. Also it seems they are about the only station in the Hudson Valley that doesn't stream their station, wondering why they don't ?

On Saturday starting at 8a WEOK Will be doing a live remote on the Walkway Over The Hudson to set another world record. They will assemble the worlds longest chorus line, to help raise money for the walkway. Kevin Casey and crew will broadcast the entire event live, it should be fun. How's that for local programming?

they do these events every so often but they don't have any regular local shows on the station that is needed. I think they should have a monring host and if possible an drive home host.

If not, are they going to flip to CBS Sports Radio on 1340/1390? WGNY-AM already has a sports station on 1220, but "Fox Oldies" is only on 98.9, but it still continues to competing the "True Oldies Channel" and WBPM, but I don't see WEOK/WALL going to sports anytime soon, because Poughkeepsie already has three oldies/classic hits stations and they are not going to support them. Get it?

I never said they would want to flip to Sports.

I just listened to the live remote mentioned above. Who decided that listening to people dancing would make for an interesting or entertaining radio program?

Cumulus is not about to spend a dime on programing WEOK. They have not done so in a very long time. It shows; 1390 has not shown up in the ratings in over 10 years. The only way a local program will appear on this station is if someone pays them for the airtime like Mark West on WALL. It cost them virtually nothing to hook the transmitter to a computer and satellite receiver 24/7 and forget it.
As far as streaming anything WEOK is not set up for this. I could be wrong but I believe they are prohibited by copyright laws from streaming the True Oldies Channel. I believe the network holds the rights to that and decides which stations may stream their content. WPLJ-HD2?

As stated, its about costs. The reason they flipped to true oldies was it required no outlay. Don't know if its making any $$$? Should be something coming in from the WALL LMA. Good live local show would be great with a knowledgable host. Van is terrible on 98.9, painful to listen to. Don't expect it to happen. And disney--they already had ESPN and it flopped along with radio disney. I can think of some Knowledgeable talent who would fit the bill for a morning DJ. Would be nice!!!
BTW , even with Regulations issues, streaming is expensive, and I'm not convinced that listening in east Bungfuct would help any local advertisers!!

Cheers
