I know its not radio.. but wow... what a stretch over at Fox 23.
First Slater flips... then the News Director resigns trying to "stand up for news"... and now the fat is being cut!!! They axed 14 or 15 people on Wednesday... mostly tech guys and gals because I didn't hear of any on air folks getting the pink slip....

Always a reminder to never get too comfy in the media world....

In the Tulsa broadcast community, as well as the OKC's, we generally include everybody whether they're radio or boob tube. We are treated equally reprehensibly. Many years ago there was an afternoon drive guy that used the moniker 'John Lee Hooker'. Apparently he didn't think anybody would know who the Blues guy was so he used the name. 'John' was a great jock. He was at 1430 KELI so I know the poor guy wasn't making much. Anyway, management had fired a co-worker so 'John' quit in protest. He just knew they'd hire him back. Unless he changed his name, he never worked in Tulsa again. The Fox news director was probably right.....and he's still outta work. The new owners of Fox are just doing what the rest of broadcasting is doing nationwide.....slowly slipping away into the abyss. Corporate big dogs are jumping ship faster than the rats did on the Bismark! I guess what I'm trying to say is that we're all one unbelievably big happy disfunctional family. May God save us all!

I gave up on their news product a few years back. Bad content, lame journalism and weak talent. But they do have IDOL.
