Yep that's right. Jeff has mellowed over the years but he's still "Jeff". JD was working for the state, at the scales on I-40 here in Statesvile. He pulled my wife in there one night (they were closed) when we were running team. He retired from that job but radio was always his first love and he does a good job with the local audience. Has quiet the following from his days as morning man at WFMX.

I believe that following his forced "retirement" from WFMX, J.D. was appointed Sheriff of Iredell County for a brief time prior to his days at the scales, but either did not run for re-election or was defeated.

Also, I seem to remember that he had a battle with cancer in those days. I'm glad to see he has outlasted his old haunt on Radio Road.

Yep the "then" sheriff passed away and J.D. was apointed to finish out his term. He ran for and lost the next election. Then I saw him at the scales one day and said "I see you got your job in law enforcement after all". Glad he's back on the radio. I wonder what the ratings look like between him and Billy Buck.
