1410AM

1410am is in Brockton, Ma??? It was something like WMSX???

Last Sunday night I heard the Football Game on there, it came in a tiny bit (I live in Salem, Ma area) The signal was fading in and, this was at night

Today, (Wednesday) November 25, I was walking in Ashmont Train Station area of Dorchester area, that station still came in veru weak, and also on the same dial setting was "Power 1410am" which was a simular format to "Family 590am" Power 1410 sounds like it can be another pirate which is also from Brockton area
1410 seemed to also be an ESPN affilate. I don't know if it's WMSX or not?

The thing is, why have a Pirate station on the same setting as a real radio station, and why have it Religious when there is already two major religious stations in Boston already 950am and 590am
It's crazy

I mean, don't get me wrong, I like Religious Programming (Rejoice! Musical Soulfood, Donnie McClurkin, Yolanda Adams Morning Show, and Dr. Michael Yousif to name a few)
I wish 590 can be an affilate of Rejoice! Musical Soulfood, that'd be cool

your thoughts please?

ESPN 1410, WPOP is in Hartford. You can pick it up at night or even in twilight. This was a station I have tuned to in the past in search of ESPN sports or even Yankees baseball (must keep tabs on the Evil Empire!)

Years ago when they were a pop station they had a DJ named Dale Denver. These days he's Mike Adams of WEEI.

As for Power 1410 and WMSX I think they're one and the same
http://www.thepowernetwork.net/

>>Today WMSX Power 1410 AM is Massachusetts’ only 24 hr station providing the Greater Boston area with the best in both Gospel and Contemporary Christian Music.

I think they have to power down at night? Or change pattern. I have picked up WMSX on the North Shore by day.

WMSX night http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WMSX&service=AM&status=L&hours=N
156 watts--NIGHT

WMSX day http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WMSX&service=AM&status=L&hours=D
1000 watts--DAY

You can find info on WPOP 1410 at radio-locator (patterns, etc.) Here's their site
http://www.espnradio1410.com/main.html

Planet Dale? This site says Dale Denver was a name assigned by WPOP management to Mike Adams. He
was at Hartford's AM 1410 from 1973 to 75

Wikipedia's entry for WMSX says "It is the only radio station in the state of Massachusetts that is dedicated to Christian music 24hrs a day. It is owned and operated by Kingdom Church in Brockton, MA."

I could never understand why anyone would even want to put a pirate station on AM.

Same here @MickeyD, but there are some AM Pirate stations in Dorchester/Roxbury/Mattapan areas of Boston, one is Gospel/Inspration somewhere around 1670am, the other two or three are Carriban somewhere also around 1500-1690am
There's even two in Lynn, one on 1670am that sounds like an Hatian one, and the other is 1690am which sounds like a Spanish Inspriation station, both of those you can ONLY get in Lynn. I heard it while driving through Lynn on my way to Salem

Mickey D, Just think of the pirate operators from Brooklyn who operated WCPR, WFAT, And WHOT. Their AM pirate station at 100 watts on 1620 AM was heard in 19 states and parts of Canada.

Re: 1410 AM

1410 is a real station licensed to Brockton. When I worked there
1980-81, it was known as WOKW. I believe it went dark for a while
due to financial reasons...

As with a lot of information on Wikipedia, this is not true. In Charlton, southwest of Worcester, there is a 24 hr. Contemporary Christian Radio Station WYCM-FM 90.1 serving southern Worcester County and Northern Connecticut.

I recall WHOT back in the 80's but that is when AM actually had music on it! Setting up an efficient AM radiator and finding a suitable transmitter is just a pain in the butt. What I find unbelievable is the FCC shuts AM's down but leaves FM pirates alone. Go figure.
