are you listening to an online sdr radio from san francisco/san jose area?

Thats KVVN Santa Clara, CA near San Jose

1428 is NOT a standard frequency.
1422 and 1431 are the nearest channels outside of the Americas.
The digits should add up to either nine or a multiple thereof.

Yeah, could it possibly have been CHKT 1430 from Toronto you were hearing?

There have been times I've been looking for stations on my PR-D5 in the 9khz step mode and have heard adjacent frequencies from the 10khz mode as if they were perfectly tuned in.

I don't think they do this any more but I think Greenland used to avoid audible heterodynes by only authorizing stations on the common channels of 540, 630, 720, 810, 900, 990, 1080, 1170, 1260, 1350, 1440, and 1530. You have to love those greenies.

Got from Wiki

CHKT airs mainly Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) language programming as well as programming in the following languages: Cambodian, Filipino, German, Hindi, Hungarian, Irish, Italian, Laotian, Macedonian, Punjabi, Russian, Thai, Urdu and Vietnamese.

So I'm guessing CHKT 1430
