1430 The Buzz

This morning on my way in at 2:40, I listened to 1430 The Buzz, the sports station in Oklahoma. They used their 5 or perhaps 6 minute spot set filled with their promos. That sounded bad. What's worse is to be able to hear it at all, when the carrier of KCOH is open with no programming. Dead air again on KCOH. What a disappointment. Natalie J's Night Train would be good for that slot.

I've noticed that as well. I was wondering if that was KTBZ underneath KCOH, but couldn't get an ID on it. Also, KYOK has been absent in the morning at sign on. The past week or so it hasn't hit the air until well after sunrise.

The Tulsa station on 1430 has always been relatively easy to pick up here in Houston. North-south signal pattern aimed right at us with 5kw at night.

Makes it even easier when KCOH is not feeding any programming.

Stan, perhaps I wasn't clear with the intent of the thread. The point was that there was no programming on KCOH when there should have been programming. I was at Harwin and Fondren in southwest Houston, where I have heard KCOH many times. Perhaps, I should have said, once again there was dead air on KCOH. As Bobby Langham would say, there was dead air "for a long, long, long, (over on back) long, long time."

I understand your point, Chuck. Is the uncertainty about the ownership of KCOH causing the dead air that is apparently happening frequently?

Dead air again this morning on KCOH. Stan, I would hope that would not be reason for dead air. However, if you're right, that means somebody doesn't care. If you're going to sign off at midnight, then sign off. Don't leave it sitting there with the carrier open.

The dead air is the call of the GM. No one even said anything about wanting this. I am trying to come up with something now with no budget to work with. This is a by product of a pending sale that is dragging on and on.......

When my ex-wife worked there, you had an on air computer. If it is still there, why not load in a lot of songs and let it roll. It may take a while for the load, but at least there would be some programming. If that is too much to do, track CDs into the computer and feature albums by different artists. Load 'em up! OR, you could record Wash Allen and Don Sam daily in the afternoon and replay his entire program at night. Assign the numbers to show up in the playlist and re-record over the same numbers daily.

i hear you, remember i said that no one meantioned to me that this is what they wanted to do. Now i know, and i will come up with something.
