1460 WBET Brockton now WBZB!?!?

JIBGUY said:
Now Brockton doesn't have ANY local radio in English..... so sad.

They still have the same local programming in the morning, the question is how long will it last? The new owners have said that they would keep most of what they had in the past, but with them throwing out historic call letters, who knows what their next move might be.

Yes, that show used to air on WCAV 97.7 when it was country. I didn't know it had moved to the AM side
until sometime this summer when I was walking around Lynch Park in Beverly, listening to a digital-display
Walkman, and while checking stuff out I stumbled on 1460--ah, WBET, and there he was.

I heard the switch of call letters will happen 12/1. WBZ is aware and is not happy about it.

Uh oh...
PAGING SCOTT FYBUSH, PAGING SCOTT FYBUSH, PLEASE PICK UP ON THREAD ONE!
:D

ahhh...those were the days...running from the BET studio to the CAV studio to do fill-in news...choking on smoke fumes from Frank Fitz...where is he these days?? Pat Cronin found me on myspace a short while ago...

Perhaps a current WBET employee can come on and give us the real scoop???? I think I heard that the new call letters only lasted a day...........

They should just keep WBET (before some station who broadcasts horse-race results grabs them). Something-business can be made out of those WBET letters.... "Where Business.....E....T....." Anyone care to fill in the blanks?

From NorthEast Radio Watch:
And after its brief attempt to use the calls "WBZB" was quashed by a cease-and-desist letter from a certain nearby station whose calls also start with "WBZ," WBET (1460 Brockton) once again has new calls: WXBR. Both sets of calls were meant to convey the idea of "Business Radio," which is what the new ownership, Business Talk Radio, will be doing with the signal.

Maybe the new Owner Dont want the WBET call letters....Because its to close to The Black cable channel ( BET ) . LOL

Another worthless post and excuse to bring the Race Card into everything. The freakin' call letters have nothing to do with the African-American race. This call letter change is not racially motivated. Rapking, give it up already. Your annoying, racist comments are silly and not acceptable. It's really old that you have to even attempt at playing the Race Card in every post you make. Please give up.
