I was up in the middle of the night DX'ing AM radio. I could get WTAM and WBBM better than 1470. I live in west Tampa and it had no presence. I think Genesis could put the oldies format with Q jocks on 820 and do as well as the old WGUL music format at 860. Just my opinion.

Genesis actually has done a good job getting the most out of the limitations faced with the facility. There has always been a ground system problem there. When we owned it, the night signal was dismal.

1470 has replaced the entire ground system within the last few years or so. I recall flying over the site and from the air, you could see fresh plow marks in the dirt radiating out from the tower. Probably the biggest problem there is the sugar sand is not very conductive and the higher frequency is also a drawback to ground wave signal. RE the DX. It has been great this winter. This is a sunspot minimum and the skywave is great. 530 from the Turks and Caicos islands is booming in here in Sarasota. Here's a tip if you want to know whether the skywave is really good. Tune to 1520 after sunset and if you hear a 1 khz hetrodyne tone, that is 1521 in Saudi Arabia. Usually a good harbinger of whether the DX will be good.
