Howard - If you look at the Radio-Locator.com listing for WLQR (I'll still always think of them as WOHO!), you'll see that they had applied to change their transmitter location (looks like it's at or near the former WTOD site) to enable them to loosen up the directional array. Protecting 5kw stations in Peoria and Flint made the signal fade too much in what was starting to be the expanding southwest suburban area of Toledo (where their simulcast FM presumably fills in nicely). Notice they've reduced their night power, but with a different array, can cover Toledo proper, properly. Your posting makes it sound like the switch has been made.

Radio-Locator does not always have up to date info on stations, and does a poor job keeping up with new assignments in Canada and Mexico, but they do have nifty coverage maps.
I find it kinda sad that three of the Toledo AMs have apparently reduced power in recent years, when none of them had enough wattage to start with to get out much further than an FM translator does now. Toledo stations had their chances years ago to upgrade their signals, but apparently never tried. (Note the number of AM signal upgrades and "new" stations in the past 20 years for the Detroit area, with sites a mere 20 miles north of Toledo.) Now, Toledo has what I consider third and fourth-rate AM outlets that few people even notice anymore. I'll bet it's hard for most folks to even find six AM presets in the Toledo area that they'd bother listening to anymore, apart from some Detroit signals, unless they're a fundamentalist or sports nut, and don't mind the lack of local content.
And Dave, we get that Howard misspelled a word in his posting, but was it necessary for you to post a comment about it in what appears to be a passive-aggressive swipe?
