Their nighttime signal doesn't have any deep nulls but, at 500 watts, doesn't get out much past the central and near-north sides of the city either.
The RadioLocator coverage maps are a bit generous with their coverage radii, but the patterns are accurate.

Or, listening to XM Channel 167, which carries the entire AAR slate.
Proof positive: the AM band is dead, and the FM band following close behind. 50 percent of America is NOT red state Rush Limbaugh dittoheads.
By not serving people who want talk radio from their side of the spectrum, the radio indsutry is collectively shooting itself in the foot.
AM radio in Phoenix is already the bastion of the Christian jihadists and their secular brethern. Parking lot, indeed.

Drivin' by that stick, Nurse Jeff and I are convinced there's more revenue being generated from tower leases than on the mighty 14~forty! Sure sucks to be a parking lot.

It doesn't matter the strength of the signal. Every signal has listeners. If it's 10 or 1,000,000 people listening, people will always find good entertainment. Which is just the reason Air America failed, it did not entertain. It beat you over the head with politics plus it tried to hard to change your political affiliation. If you are a good talk host and can entertain an audience of listeners will find you no matter what the power of the station is. I seriously doubt any radio station owners are reading this board, but I bet every owner started somewhere down the line at a radio station. Talent will always be in demand.
