Case example of where an FM translator adds no general value to the combo/package yet just adds congestion to the FM band. Wasn't this the former home to the CHoP programming several months back iirc? I was probably one of a few that enjoyed the Soul of Philadelphia days...
For I think it was 2ish years, it was "Breakthrough Radio" an upbeat Adult Hits station. They flipped it to Fox Sports Radio, and they DO have an afternoon live host, Sean Brace, who does a sports betting themed show (since sports betting is legal in PA and NJ).
It's not showing up in the ratings, so who knows if/how many people are tuning in, either on 1480, 102.5FM, or on 105.3 HD2. (And since they don't emphasize ANY of the frequencies in the logo, who knows).
Was that what they were called, RadioDX10 ? The Soul of Philly?
I caught them once in a snowy supermarket parking lot outside Elysburg PA, about 2 PM, around five years ago. That reception was off a Grundig too, like yours, maybe. This was a SR-270 or something like that -- the black one with the big red on-off button.
The music was fine. Philly's Spinners, Hall & Oates, Intruders, etc. I guess that WDAS 1480 sent some daytome signal NNW toward us.
I heard 'em once at night, too. They send a bit of nighttime signal our way.
They must've been quite the thing in the 60's.

I just abbreviated it- it was the Soul of Philadelphia.
Yeah their day pattern is wonky. Mostly sends its 5kWs to the delaware bay in south jersey.
Back in the 60s it was a huge station within the civil rights era. MLK spoke on WDAS. It was the first black owned station in Philly, if I am not mistaken.

I remember when I was in Philly back in 2013, 1480-AM's signal was pretty strong inside 30th Street Station, so I thought the station should've been used to broadcast information about the train station. When I was at 30th Street Station this past summer I didn't even turn on the AM band, so I don't know if their signal is as strong as it used to be.
