1480 kHz -- Your Most Desired Thanksgiving Appetizer

I would really love to hear the local WISL Shamokin on 1480 once more. Perhaps some old air checks remain. Folks up this way my age have said that WISL and WKBW were the two stations they enjoyed most as teens back in the Sixties.
Right next to each other on the dial, too.

But WISL 1480 and its four towers went dark at least 15 years ago. Clear Channel bought out WISL 1480 only to acquire its simulcasted WISL-FM on 95.3. Immediately, someone took a fire axe to 1480. Clear Channel merely wanted the *FM*, to change it to Country and augment it's 'Bill FM' ratings on 95.5 from Williamsport.
Didn't work.

I personally do not have a most-wanted on 1480 these days in NE PA. I once had a wintertime daytime skip from Oldies 1480 WDJO from Cincinnati taped -- with meteorologist Heather Zayre (sp?) -- off a barefoot GE SR 2. That was plenty for me. And of course, I'd love to hear the retro KWIZ from Santa Ana CA again.

Lol -- I LOVE those old-time nighttime 1480 coverage maps, particularly the one that had some seven, big, East Coast stations sending their signals searing through the downtown COL's and then out to sea.
So I figure WLEE Richmond VA would be an interesting pursuit, hi.

Well, what is your 1480 wish for this winter ?

I've heard WDJO (briefly) and WHBC in East Tennessee. My closest unheard on 1480 is WTLO, Somerset, KY (daytime regular is WJFC, Jefferson City TN). For most wanted, I'm going with (drumroll) WRSW, Warsaw, IN, a one-time local.

By far it's KRAE Cheyenne WY. I have been looking for this one for years, can't seem to get them out of the slop.
KVNR Santa Ana CA is the second next choice.

WDJO comes to mind. I think I've heard them a couple of times, but couldn't positively ID.

Back in the day it would have been WISM from Madison, WI. 5kw Day/1kw night from Madison, WI. 80 miles. Normally, that should produce a weak, but listenable day signal. But I'm in the null (of the successor sation) which historically been occupied by semi-local WFXW.
