1480 Mobile?

1480 is no longer listed on The Ticket website.

Shouldn't have ever been sold to oafs running 3rd-rate sports radio (and that's compared to WNSP).

I just wonder which college sports teams had the rights available in Mobile, Panama City and Fort Walton? They'd have to buy rights in all three markets for the trimulcast... and Bama, Auburn, FSU, and Florida were pretty much tied up with heritage contracts. I doubt the Ticket could make an impact settling for say LSU and still make money.
Of course I'm assuming live sports broadcasts make or break a sports talk radio station and the only pro sports teams with a strong local following are the Saints and Braves which also already have other local outlets. Perhaps the rights to the Tampa NFL team are available in this area...

NASCAR deserves to be on a 100kw country station (only because we have so many more country stations than rock). That's why I didn't suggest the Ticket trimulcast needs NASCAR too.

Start the countdown. 1480 will end up finding Jesus just like WABB FM.

The problem with 1480 is after sunset, the pattern is virtually useless. Good luck try to pick it up west of University. Plus, the audio and transmission chain has been in disrepair for years. So much so that the cost to repair is probably not worth the investment. Sad, but reality.

Did the old site off Shelton Beach Road work better for nighttime service? Who owns that property now?

With so many AM stations going dark, good used equipment can be had very cheaply. The night time directional pattern "might not work" and you could file a STA for a couple of hundred watts or pick up a FM translator which would be the first thing I would work on after I got the audio chain fixed. If i could not get the translator, another "nighttime site or reduction in power with not quite as tight pattern would in order.
