1490 AM to Standards

1490 WQQX East St. Louis has stopped stunting with patriotic music, and has emerged with a new Adult Standards format on the frequency. Insane Broadcasting Co. took control of it last month and canned the stations WFFX Call Letters and Urban Sports format, as well as the entire staff.

If they could, I would simulcast it with 1430... More coverage with marginal AM's in a massive land market...

so KZQZ and WQQX are essentially the same station owned by the same company. Except one plays Oldies and the Other Adult Standards?
Are The Hot Talk Shows Different?

I never listened to the old station. But out of curiousity, I followed the link to their website. Awful. Awful. Garish, silly, just plain dumb... my 15 year old could have done better... and listening to their online "broadband" stream is, well, dreadful. They're playing some twangy traditional county. When I think of "standards", I think of Bing Crosby, Tommy Dorsey, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr, Lawrence Welk, Tom Jones, Liberace, the stuff my parents, aunts and uncles and Grandparents listened to. Where's Louis Armstrong?

Give me my Christian hit music or classical music any day over this!!!

God. It's worse than I thought. They're running heavy echo/reverb during their commercials and CNN Newscast. Awful. Absolutely awful. Even if I loved the dreadful Country music they're playing, that echo/reverb is just BAD, BAD, BAD. They claim to be the "Insane Broadcasting Company" and I'd say that the name fits given what I'm hearing right now....yuck.
