1500 UPDATE

A total of four mutually exclusive applications are pending before the FCC, 3 for 1500 itself and one for an upgrade of 1510 KSPA. One app. is for Venice with 500 watts day and night by a group called Kermit T Stop partnership. Another for Culver City by the Levine/Schwab partnership is for 25kw. day and 1kw night. Yet another by the "returning" Mr.Ed and Royce International at Culver City, 50kw day and 4.3kw night. To top it off, Art Astor of 1510 KSPA has an app. to go 50kw, which if granted would preclude the return of a 1500. It most likely will take the FCC a number of years to pick a winner from these applications.

Do you think Art will live that long?
1510 is so crowded if they ever got 50kw (daytime probably) they'd have to be very directional. What a waste

They should award it to Stolz...

He has the Format, the Announcers, and Spot rates all ready to go!. How he listed this info in SRDS and the Broadcasting & Cable Yearbook , one will never know?

Re: It will all be a moot point when HD Radio really takes shape....

Because none of the AM stations below 1200 will even have a fighting chance once HD takes hold. All the interference and ramshotting by other frequencies will be so horrible, only the strong survive and that ain't the people above 1200 let me tell you that. I'm not that sure about below 1200 either, but I know the useless frequencies are above 1200 for the most part.
