Looking at the WA STATE board, KGA SPOKANE, WA IS NOW DOWNGRADING from CLASS A to CLASS B (Since when did the FCC allow this?). Their nightime power goes way down and covers just Spokane, Wa at 5mV/m.
Then, KPIG 1510 San Francisco can raise power at night w/ an application filed to do so.
Could 1510 KFNN switch from a class D to class B and go up to 5kW at night considering maybe they don't have to protect KGA at night ?

I don't have my propogation software unpacked yet.. I do know with the Class A
backing down this will leave some room for a raise in power UNLESS The SF 1510 changes power and pattern (the latter not so likely) But with KFNN-AM being on Diplexed on KOOL-AM's towers in Scottsdale, It would be interesting to see that result. I would be interested in seeing if it would fly. I could see 3-4kw ND daytime and 1kw DN with a bias to the South and East.

The applications for KGA's downgrade and KPIG's upgrade specifically mentioned KFNN (along with the 1510s in Salt Lake and Denver) as candidates for improved night service once KGA vacates its Class A status. It will be interesting to see who applies first.

If I know Ron Cohen (Owner/GM - KFNN-AM) well enough, he already has the application done and ready to go with comments to back it up.

I think this would be one investment that he will stay on top of. 8)

The whole purpose of KGA downgrading was so co-owned KPIG could make a signficant upgrade.
