Might it make sense nationally for some kind of merger between NBC Sports and Yahoo? As distribution goes, Cumul/W1 does
both CBS-Sp and now NBC. (Note that Fox Sports is distributed not by Fox radio but by Clear Channel) Wondering what may happen
(does NBC go away totally now? Just when it seemed they would be the dominant network on 1510...with a nearly full time schedule...)
And maybe the moon is made out of cream cheese. 1. Neither NBC Sports or Yahoo is paying 1510 to run their programs. 1510 will continue to run some NBC programming but the majority of national programming will come from Yahoo. 2. Anthony Pepe is doing a national mid day show for Yahoo.. 3. 1510 chose not to continue to sell time to Brother Stair in order to be Sports 24 hours a day during the week. There is still some non sports brokered time on weekends.3. The Yahoo radio licensing deal is about driving traffic to a web site while Gow gets a branded name and access to Yahoo writers. 4. When 1510 was Progressive Talk, Dial Global pulled their programming from 1510 because they did not like the fact that Santos was buying time on many Progressive stations which caused some Global programs to be dropped as the station owners preferred to sell time to a Santos rather then a barter deal with Global. BTW, I saw Santos last week he s doing well and still making a nice living as a broadcaster, which is more than i can say for some of his critics on this board. Finally, Felger and Mazz is an excellent show but the Afternoon Press Box on 1510 is a nice alternative for those looking for something else. John Sapochetti is an industry veteran who knows sports and does a show with out the childish name calling and sophomoric sound that is heard on many sports talk programs.
