1520 dead air again for a while

LOL it's done this before, broadcasting silence for over a week. Previously what I'd do to get it fixed is message someone from KYND on these forums who knows the guy who runs KQQB, and Mr. KYND would have him get it fixed.
I'll probably still end up messaging Mr. KYND again tomorrow, if 1520 is still silent. But just in case Mr. KQQB is reading these forums, better let him know. The station needs to announce itself is looking for a lease sometimes, if it wants to find one.

What could be causing their automation to give out so much? Did they forget to put the playlist on repeat, or is their electricity going out a lot and taking the music with it?

There are a few things that can happen. With the transmitter and computer likely inside a little transmitter building, RF can play havoc with a computer. The longer RF affects a computer the stranger the problems are, the more frequently and more illogical they become. Sure a copper casing helps but some RF always gets in. A flicker of the power can shut a computer down. Then there's computer updates that might not be turned off, browser updates and virus/spyware updates. Any of these can interfere with an automation program. And for no reason, a computer can lock up. When it is working it's memory like it does running automation it might happen. I heard of systems shutting down if somebody tries to hack in to it but I've never seen that. Plainly put, Murphy of Murphy's Law is still alive and well terrorizing stations.

That makes sense. I didn't think of RF signals and what they can do to computers. Don't stations use these to get music, not computers?

It probably depends on the station though if I were KQQB and my computer kept acting up I'd run the automation from somewhere else and use a Barix at the site.

Stations use the "pro" versions of a Barix box as an inexpensive studio to transmitter link (STL) over IP rather than more costly alternatives like microwave or satellite delivery.

Any music played comes off a computer system at the studio in such case.

But we have been told that this station is originating at the site. In that case, a computer is running the music, IDs and the like.

Yeah perhaps they don't wanna pay for Internet at the site. I'd still run it from home, with a Barix box, since KQQB falls over every couple days.

Wow... Richard Jo Neil Werlinger must be related to Don Werlinger... https://www.radiodiscussions.com/showthread.php?685406-Joe-s-latest-thread-regarding-Don-Werlinger

Richard Joe Neil is working with someone named Brett Jackman from the FAA according to Brett's email address.

If the corruption's working with the FAA, as well as maybe the FCC, God save us all. At least someone told me that Don's family member may be nicer than Don was... Don't quote me on that though just what I heard.
