1530 Homer coming over my external pc sound card

I dont have my stereo turned on i just have rca cord partiall in the jack on the card and i get 1530 over it on my earbuds. I dont know if this is normal to get am over a Usb sound card with my laptop hooked up wirelessly.

And just HOW close to their towers are you?

I'm pretty sure Rob is in Delhi - across the river from the towers location in Villa Hills, KY.
I used to live in Villa Hills and trust me, you could get 1530 on just about everything from phone lines to small appliances (ok, phone line and am "bleed" all over the dial).
Knowing Rob, he will respond on his own - several times.
Happy T-Day everyone!

About 2,000 feet from me is a new Cell tower. Could that be part of why I am getting it?

If that is the only thing that has changed, yes? I live in North Hollywood, about a mile from KSPN-710 and get them on my land line phones and in the background on AM radios tuned to other stations, I have never gotten them on my sound cards though.

When you say RCA partially plugged, do you mean the just center conducter is engaged? In that case grounding (inserting all the way) should solve it. Remember most laptops have no actual ground as they use a DC converter when on AC so any earth ground is indirect through coupling to the AC neutral.

Also is the inteference the same on battery power versus the adapter?

So I understand (technically) - how does the new "cell tower" amplify or replicate audio from the nearby 50,000 watt am station?
Just curious.

It's not doing it tonight.
1530 is directional at night (actually, at sunset in Sacramento). Depending on where you are in relation to their transmitter, you'll see either more signal or less signal at night. If you're north, you'll see more. If you're west, you'll see (and hear) much less.
