1530 Old old Call Sign question

There is a great pool of talent that scan the North Florida page -- and I'd like to ask what was the Original Call Sign of 1530 when it was a 1,000 watt start-up? There is a copy of an old engineering sheet by CCA for the 1,000 watt (now) backup transmitter... for the final test specs of the transmitter before being shipped. It was something like WTAO or WTAD... I have a photo of the sheet and that part where the call sign is doesn't give me a real good read when I magnify it... ideas? I took a ton of photos of the place in 2003/2004. Main control/processor/phasor/transmitters and towers....

1530 was WCRJ, Christian Radio Jacksonville long before it was WJGR. Art Dees of Defuniak Springs bought the AM for $350,000 in 1987, and changed the call letters to WJGR going to an adult standards format in 1987. I have no idea what the original calls were.

The FCC database doesn't show the WCRJ calls in use until 1992 and the WJGR calls in use long before that. Hmmmm.

The FCC database doesn't show any calls before 1987 on this particular station. The station was on the air many years before 1987. It was 107.3's sister station, WCRJ AM/FM.

Ol' Rock, now you didn't have to go too far for this one!!! I had the answer all along :D

WIAD (as in "IntegrAteD Broadcasting"). 1975 Broadcasting Yearbook lists 1530 as a CP with those calls, and that owner.

WIAD, thanks Radio Sanchez; were you with me when I was taking photos all around the place during the Jax antenner tour we did a few years ago?? I think we stopped there and said hi to Doc or the Board op and I showed you the Tx, Phazor, etc. Could of been someone else or another tour. Got photos if anyone wants a jpg or two, three, etc... [email protected].

Those were my pictures, and my camera 8)

And I remember that particular sticker on the TX, which was the one that was in operation at the time. They had just gotten the new one from Crawford, but it was not working yet.

Ahh, yes, Sanchez, I've forgotten that courtesy you've extended. Shame on me. And thanks for the Lunch we had inside the 1,000 microvolt contour of WVOJ 1570. Believe it or not I used to toast my lunch hoagies on the old 1570 WQAI/WYHI Collins 21E Reef, uh, Transmitter. I had that Quiznos thingy down pat years before they started the franchise. ::) It's a shame we stopped putting the key on the back sewer vent pipe union. The locks were changed a few times back in that stretch. Another thing you missed out on was chasing all the vermin out of the WNNR 970 Xmtr. At one time, surely, they had a studio/office on the westerly side of the building. I'm glad all the wiring hasn't been eaten away, knock on wood; it's bound to happen there. Ahh, to work behind in Jax Radio again. Remember the DX Test we had during that one time at experimental hours on day power? We had reports for a thousand miles on the back side of the pattern. We found a TON of mid early 70s Gospel LPs at the old 970 WNNR/WVOJ Studios on University Blvd. I emailed Elwyn Hall over at 1050 AM WROS to see if he wanted to haul them off. It would of been a shame to ditch them if someone could use 'em. You miss all the fun being there in S. FL, Sanch!
