1540 kgbc

Between KAAM and KGBC, I now have two things I can set presets for on AM. Both horrible, weak signals. But I'd rather eat static and hear something I want, than hear something I don't want on a clear signal.

They now play Classic Hits on 1540 AM KGBC. They have been playing for the last few weeks.

That's our own Dade Moore, a fellow member here on the site. KGBC has been airing the classic hits since Hum FM's short stay on the island ended. Siga is still searching for the next group to lease 1540, I presume.

I would ask them. Or maybe they still read these boards and saw your message already. ;)

You link was only about 1130 in SA - have they taken over 1540 for yet more foreign language stuff in the Houston area?

1090 was getting over 50K a month for tye Chinese stuff. Dont know whi Don didnt pay the lease. Now its dark and prrobabky DOA as far as license renewal.

The programming was pulled wasn't it? Back in December. $50K per month is retarded for a 1KW AM daytimer in the sticks.

Is KGBC doing much community programming now that they are back to classic hits? I remember they were doing quite a bit in their previous oldies/classic hits incarnation back in 2009. I lived in League City then and really enjoyed their programming (and got ripped by some when I was not a fan of their switch to CRI). In any case, I hope Galveston has some semblance of community radio again.

KGBC is not really doing a format but rather filling time between clients. KGBC is a brokered time station as far as how they operate. The engineer can give the full details. He posts here. I'd rather not try to put any words in his mouth. The CRI switch you mention was such a client signing an agreement buying the airtime.
