IMHO The best WECZ could get would be some kind of directional at night (very expensive) or less than 100 watts at night.

I was living in Brattleboro VT back when Albany's 1540 was "Real Rock" Top 40 WPTR and its star was "Boom Boom" Brannigan...and dating a girl attending SUNY Cobleskill, about 30 miles southwest of the Capital District on NY Route 7.
1540 was unlistenable in Cobleskill. That pattern goes all east.

"Boom Boom" definitely did "boom" into Brattleboro, especially during the very early years when he was doing the evening shift!

I always felt that Jack would have been a perfect fit to follow Broadway Bill on CBS-FM. I first listened to Jack on WKYC in 1967. I didn't realize until years later that I had watched Sandy Beach (when he was "Jack Diamond") turn over his music show on WWLP-TV to none other than Jack Miller (later of WCBS-FM). Being out of the country in the late sixties, I wasn't familiar with Don until his arrival at KB - although I do like the aircheck of him during his brief "visit" to the Great 98.

Yes he did, but honestly I only listened to 'PTR when 1520 WKBW/Buffalo wouldn't come in...Boom Boom had nothing on Sandy Beach, Don Berns (later at 'TAE) and Jack Armstrong...

Hot prospects ('KB's new adds) that week included "Black Dog" and "Your Move"/"I've Seen All Good People" by Yes.
Not to state the obvious, but 'KB was never the same after Armstrong left - 40 years ago this month - for 13Q.
