1540 Wnwr has been sold

Strong rumors are, they will launch a Regional Mexican format. I could be wrong.

That format has a small chance at success, as it is not duplicated on FM by the rhythmic CHR stations.

I do. I have a few tapes of them. I enjoyed country then but that station had no compression in it so I thought it sounded quite flat. I'd wait later until WMAQ or WBT came stormin' in. Aw yes. WLW too.

Compression does not make flat audio bright, unless the compressor has built in EQ or multi-band processing or the station has done equalization ahead of the compressor /limiter. All a compressor does is limit the dynamic range to increase loudness without overmodulating.

Anyone remember back in the 1960s when 1540 was WRCP- country and western ? We listened in Doylestown.

I do. I have a few tapes of them. I enjoyed country then but that station had absolutely no compression so it sounded way too flat for me. I'd wait until WBT, WLW, or WMAQ came stormin' in.

Sorry about the double post. I use multiple compressor/limiters and I have always tried to capture the sound I would hear on am back then . I use infinite ratios with fast attacks and release. I guess thats the limiting part of it. Correct?
