My friend Dana was one of the many local engineers asked by WNWR to help them embark on a new project- diplexing with WHAT 1340. WNWR's new "owners" have a bit of a problem though- when they bought the license- they did not buy the towers and site. They also did not pay the electric bill, hence why they're off air. They do not own the land on which they broadcast from...
So, they want to move to the WHAT site, but they can't. They want to re-vamp their studios- but can't afford it. Their plan was/ is to diplex on the WHAT tower, and go 10kW day, 1.7kW critical hours, and a whopping, heart stopping, 7 watts at night.
According to Dana, it's a quagmire. Expect WNWR to remain dark for a while.
