One of those transmitter Ops was my friend, Pete, who is blind. He is also a ham, callsign K1PXE. I remember when I first started, wondering about the Braille markings on the transmitter... until I met Pete in the early 90's.
Back in those days, the studio was located at the CT Post Mall, before it was closed-in. Blair Walliser bought a "modular home" demo unit from a local business, and had it installed over a weekend. It is told that he we walked into City Hall, told them he built a building at 90 Kay Ave, and asked for the permits. Needless to say, he didn't make many friends, there.
