1550 WDLR Now on 92.9FM

Are they airing local Delaware programming? That's what they did when I lived there twenty years ago.

Last time I was through Cbus they had moved the stick into the city and were Spanish music.

Yes they are formatted towards Delaware http://wdlrradio.com/welcome-to-1550-wdlr/

WOW they built that translator in quickly. They built that out less than a month after FCC approval to move that translator to Delaware for the AM as part of AM Revitalization.

Got this signal quite well last night driving up and down Main Street in Reynoldsburg. There were a few dropouts, but not many. If it's only 250 watts they are running, it is a darn good 250 watts.
I also notice that the website is listing the FM *before* the AM. The only promo I remember from last night still had the AM first.

Nice website! How rare is THAT to go back to being a community station after you've run up the white flag
and moved your transmitter into the nearest big city?

Unless something has changed recently, WDLR never ever goes to their licensed night power. They are a regular at night in East Tennessee

I think you're right gr8oldies. They are listenable in Columbus day and night, and I have no problem believing that skywave can carry all the way to Tennessee.
I meant the FM signal in my post. That map indicates a directional pattern, although that pattern happens to look just the AM's signal which seems to cut out much of northern Delaware County.

I am picking up 92.9 very well in western Union county. I used to pick up 92.9 out of Dayton, but now it is being clobbered by WDLR. I am impressed with their signal coverage. The next time I go towards Logan county I'll see how far it goes.

Judging from sister station WQTT's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/QT1270), we can expect them to add an FM translator soon as well. Good "non-answer" answer to a question posed last week, and I was happy to see it.
Guessing that will be good news for listeners outside 1270's main lobe. I hope like WDLR's FM signal, WQTT's translator will make it to me on the east side. The AM signal is fine here daytime but it is quite buried at night.

I live in the Marysville area, so I'll keep my eye out for tower work in the area. Not sure if they would build something on their current tower farm or not. 104.3's tower would be a nice location, even though that tower appears to be loaded.

If you see something, feel free to share!
On another board, I brainstormed that 105.3 would have been a good frequency for WQTT's FM translator ... before that frequency went to WYTS' translator. Wonder where it will go. Can't be adjacent with anything in Columbus, or co-channel with Lima or Dayton stations given Marysville's proximity to those cities.

Thanks for the heads up, Allfirdup.
250 watts probably won't go too far, especially since it's directional and right next door to 98.9, but then again WDLR's translator also is 250 watts and it really gets out. Still surprised it is sitting right next to a Columbus station.

I know they shoot most of their signal to the south ... were you out of the main lobe? 1550's groundwave is listenable almost to downtown Columbus at night and I occasionally get it in Reynoldsburg. Also hear it pretty well to the east and southeast of Delaware when I have to be up in that area at night. But with the FM translator, I never need to try anymore. I know quite a few Indians fans in north Columbus that depend on WDLR for the Indians since no Columbus station seems interested in carrying them.

According to the link that Allfirdup posted, they are going to be broadcasting from the 104.3 tower. Also checked the Radio-Locator map to verify the call sign W283AJ-FM. Appears to be very directional as well with the "city grade" signal only reaching about a mile and a half to the North. WDLR's translator is impressive with only 250 watts, so we'll see how well WQTT's gets out there.

I look at that pattern and honestly wonder what the use of WQTT having an FM translator even is. That signal doesn't look like it's going to fill in the AM side's deficiencies, especially to the north. Maybe it will to the southwest toward Springfield; I don't get out that way much anymore. It won't get to much of Columbus. Even the areas where it might be heard, it's probably going to take severe interference from 98.9's sidebands.
