We keep losing them. 2025 was one of the worst years for losses. I was wondering what happened on 1570. I live outside Hinsdale. My reception isn't that great. I miss living off 294/95th St, where I got it better (day and night). I like the NWI SDR. I noticed DX, all day long recently.
Usually, they don't come back. I actually listened to 1570 (post-jazz format), from 2012 to 2020. That's because of the "dusties revival," and "Buck Naked Truth." COVID affected this one too. The host of "Buck Naked Truth," died from COVID in 2020. I listened to "Grown Folks Music," every late Friday night. It was shortly revived, after COVID. After 2020, I tuned in sparingly. There is no internet stream, and the last updates to the site are from 2024.
So...1510 is the lone survivor, of South Side/Suburban stations. We're beyond "record what you can." We'll see how long 1510 hangs in there. I also noticed, that 1510 has been playing more gospel lately. Not entirely, but at times. I would like to say since late summer (Sept). I wonder if they will return to being "The Gospel Station," or continue with their mix of talk segments and music. Until 2018 (I think), 1510 played mostly (gospel) music. 1570 has all the shows, with gospel music, during unsold time. I thought it was nice to add the talk segments, and mix up their music. They talk about a lot, and it is great to hear ultra local stuff. We don't get that anymore.
I have been busy with family and work. I just found out now. So, what's next? That transmitter site (and towers) have been there for decades. If they really don't come back, will the site get bulldozed?
