XERF was one of my more regular catches from Laramie, WY 2018-2020 and if i pointed my big loop the right way, it was loud.. i loved their ID.. as was typical with mexican stations, it was long.. my joke was "XERF would legally id everything, including the location of the stations kitchen sink"

My favorite overall mexican log, which was also regular was XEABCA 820 which did several minutes of barn/farm animal noises at 6am.

XERF has been missing in action.....or more correctly buried in the slop....here in the Chcago area for years They used to be fairly regular in these parts....sometimes fighting with CFOR and or CH:O.. But more recently. if XERF went missing, I doubt if many DXers would miss it.....or notice. That said, XERF (at 30kw?) is still pretty good IME, in most the southwest.

I also haven't heard XERF in years.

Over here in Houston, XERF's signal is very inconsistent. Sometimes it's strong and clear, sometimes it's weak and easily nullable. A few years ago I could often hear them in the daytime in midwinter, but not any more.

Interesting. Houston was the one spot that I didn't get to visit very often on my business trips. Last time I was there was about ten years ago, and that night XERF was booming. But a few hours to the east is New Orleans, where I've been at least 2-3 dozen times, XERF hasn't exactly been an automatic in recent years.

I was away from Houston from 2012 to 2016. As memory serves, XERF was much stronger when I left than it was when I returned. It seems that it's weaker on average now than it was in 2016.

I'm not surprised it's harder to hear in New Orleans. NOLA is twice as far from Cd Acuna as I am.
