1580/97.7 WWTF New format

That format belongs in 100.5 The Fox Louisville. That was the best station around and a great signal. Wonder what will AM 1580 will become?

Yes this is what should be on 100.5 for sure!

I think 1580 will also be this same format as 97.7, because it's a translator for 1580, so whatever it plays, 97.7 will also air it?

It is a good station so far, but the coverage area isn't the best... you can hear it in Lexington, but not in Winchester. http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/patg?id=W249DJ-FX

The map shows that where I am which is Danville, is outside of the fringe coverage area. The signal is heard very well here as well as Richmond and Lancaster. Also I did forget that its a translator and I assume that it must carry the same material as the parent station.

I will say it's nice to have a format like this in the market (active rock -- 80's/90's alt rock with some new rock mixed in) but I was hoping for a truer "alternative" station, like what is programmed on 100.7 The Project in Cincy, 101 WKQX in Chicago, ALT 987 LA, etc. I do wonder if this new station will end up chipping into 103.3's numbers a bit.

That is pretty crazy that you're able to hear it so well down there in Danville, taking the coverage map into consideration. Maybe they've changed their directionality a bit? I know they can't throw much signal east/southeast in order to protect WKCA over in Morehead. Sucks for the folks out in the east part of the metro (i.e. Winchester).

You can't do that legally.

97.7 will do to 103.3 what 103.9 has done to 107.9. Signal coverage is the only issue. Days like today where there FM name is more "alive" , the signal is covered up by other stuff. Its usually static free but in mono in my area. The music is great. Reminds me of the good ole days of 100.5 the fox. Such a same Louisville has no decent rock station. Bring back the fox asap.

They had to make a directional change... due to WKCA. Too many complaints. I work in Winchester and before the change, you can't hear WKCA or WWTF.

Yeah, bring back the Fox. I need a new part time gig :) I've listened to this new station a bit and it seems to be mirroring the iHeart Rock Nation station for the most part, while inserting local sweepers and such. Very similar to what Louisville is doing with the Fox on QMF's HD2 channel.
