1580 Drops Beck

I don't think DCRTV was trying to say that Liddy would end up on WTNT but that Beck might. I think Beck may be getting the Noon-3 slot on WTNT to replace Ray Lucia. He could also replace Laura Ingraham, but I think that is unlikely. Replacing Ingraham is what DCRTV was wondering about.

Beck may also be heading to 1260 WRC, which would not be surprising because Beck has started to develop a relationship with Salem. Glenn airs on Salem stations in LA (KRLA), Chicago (WIND), and Riverside/San Bernardino (KTIE). Either of these stations would be an improvement for Beck over WHFS.

Liddy's show doesn't start until 10 AM on the network - they had Doug Stephan on from 9-10 (at least on the stream).

It had the look of a sudden unexpected change. The web site said it was playing Dennis Miller (Miller is carried late at night). My guess is once the paperwork is done, Miller will move to being live from 10AM-noon. It's plausbile that Miller was on "over the air" and it was Liddy only on the stream (I don't live in the D.C. area)

Beck has been on the station since December 2008. Looking at recent history, CBS named a new PD/OM for D.C. in January 2010 The new PD/OM is Michael Saunders, who was recently named an up and coming African American talent by Radio Ink. CBS has very little "conservative talk" other than on a few former Infinity stations (KXNT in Vegas for example). I doubt he got a lot of pushback from senior management to drop the show.

I myself was wondering about Beck's future on 1580, as it seems the station has done minimal promotion of his live event from Washington last weekend. It would be a boon for Dennis Miller to be cleared live in the market (currently, he airs on tape delay from 3-6 PM). Then those promos he cut for the station that go, "I'm on in D.C. at a time when you can actually listen!" will really ring true.

(Does anybody recall Dennis' previous radio home in D.C.? Based on the above promo, it makes it sound as if another station did indeed carry it late at night, as a previous poster alluded to.)

The above player link no longer works. It redirects to the new radio.com player. But there is still a banner that shows five hosts, Beck included, on it.

Meanwhile, they no longer run a promo mentioning all of the hosts, Beck included, on their air. Hmmm...

IIRC, it was WTNT, before it's current incarnation as a clearinghouse for TRN programming.

If DCRTV is right that WTNT is going to be flipped to sports airing the ESPN network with Steve Czban from Sporting News in the morning, WHFS most likely dropped Glenn Beck to add Laura Ingraham since her show would be available in the DC market. In this case, WWRC could pick up Beck and Savage which would be a major boost for the station.
