Sounds like a much better version of Ben, Jack, Bob, whathaveyou, even though it won't last. Good signal in Eddystone, when they played In A Gadda Da Vida, it reminded me of a P.R. station in the Lehigh Valley that was on AM. Does anyone remember when all the Progressive Rock stations in the 70's were on FM, the really odd AEB area, had their Progressive Rocker on AM, I don't quite remember the calls or frequency but it was down around 1500. I only heard them a few times and they sounded big time FM, how did they do in the ratings. Hard Rock on AM in mono, now that was something to get excited about.

Re: Rock on AM

It was 1470 WSAN, which was progressive rock during the 1970's. I believe this happened because the valley only had 5 full market FMs, WEEX 99.9 was a top 40 simulcast of 1230 AM, the rest were all MOR/beautiful music, and I guess the conservative owners didn't want to program rock, which had too uch of a counterculture image at the time. Finally WEZV 95.1 switched to rock and soon became WZZO, which remains rock today, sort of like MMR trying to walk a line between heritage and the younger audience. I think Lyn Kratz worked at both WSAN & WMMR if I remember right. The jocks were so mellow they were hard to hear their voices on AM radio, especially from the Poconos where I was at the time. Interestingly, 1470 is again running an "FM" format, having switched from standards to oldies when WODE became The Hawk a few years back, and does pretty well in the overall ratings, usually the #2 AM station just behind talk WAEB.

Re: Rock on AM

Thanks for the info, how were the ratings when they were Progressive Rock?

And it will be in glorious C-Quam AM Stereo, too!
