1690 AM Tower Gone

I was driving on Cheshire Bridge Road in AM Transmitter Heaven this morning and noticed the former WMLB/1690 tower has already been taken down. As was chronicled here a couple of weeks ago, the station moved to the 970/1190 tower a couple of blocks away, also in ATH.

I wonder if Barry saw the tower being disassembled from his apartment on the roof of the Red Snapper.

If I am not mistaken, the crane that was used to lift the 10kw transmitter onto the flatbed was also used to take down the tower. It was down just a few days after the transmitter was removed.

The city just removed a lot of the brush along Peachtree Creek which means I look straight across the creek and the Red Snapper parking lot into the WQXI field. All I have to say is Lincoln Financial needs to paint the little white transmitter building. I did not notice the moldy stuff growing on one side when the brush was blocking the view from my patio. :)

:D You can see the building on Street View of Google Maps. Yuck!
