The Space Needle "collapsed", according to the writers on "Almost Live!" They got into a lot of trouble for that prank. As I recall viewers threatened to sue KING-TV. The following week's show opened with an on-air apology from John Keister.
______________

An April Fools prank in the Boston area, years ago, on Ch 7: "Great Blue
Hill" (home to the transmitter for WGBH-TV, well known producer of
PBS shows) "...is a volcano and it's erupting" (I think they showed footage
of Mt. St. Helens. Nearby, someone released their horses from the stables
so they wouldn't be destroyed by the lava,
______________

I seem to remember Robin and Maynard reporting one April Fool's Day morning that Queen Anne Hill had erupted, quite convincingly, I might add.

I recall R&M's prank from two years ago when they reported that Bremerton's water supply was contaminated. "The high ranking Buzz Officials" suspended them for that as I recall. I still have the Kitsap Sun's article about that.
______________

Sadly - we have lost both our collective senses of humor and the ability to take a joke. Between lawyers and various activist groups - April Fools radio gags will soon be against company policies. Anyone else got some favorites to share??
