1710 PIRATE?

While spending much of the weekend in Easton, Mass, I heard a non-English language station on 1710 on my car radio from there. Anyone know what that is?

Why would anyone broadcast an AM pirate station when they can go on FM?

There's a powerful AM pirate in Brooklyn on 1710 that has been heard as far as Michigan after sunset. It's a Jewish pirate, and it's off the air on Saturdays because apparently it's against their religion to broadcast on the Sabbath (but they don't care that it's against the law to broadcast over 100 milliwatts). Amazing how a pirate station can cover hundreds of miles but a graveyard station barely goes 10 miles at night.

why take more than you need? most unlicensed stations are creyol talk call-in with a spot of music (which sounds fine on AM with a wide filter)
