181.fm

They had postings on their website asking for bandwidth donations recently, which hinted that they are running out of money, but they have THOUSANDS of mp3 slots which can't be cheap or free...

Does anyone hear any rumblings?

I know someone who works with 181.FM, and they are in trouble. They are unable to pay Royalties, and keep the mp3 streams. They had talks on doing something similar to what Sky.FM and Depot Hill Media did of going subscription and turning normal bitrates down to 32kbps, which would suck, but in business your supposed to make money. Not too long ago, Sky.FM had a Bandwidth donation request on their home page. Who knows?

Hmm... someone likes to tell lies on this board. Guess that's nothing new. At least we don't copy other portals ;)

I am glad to see that 181.FM is getting some publicity! Even if people want to make it out worse than it is.

Let me just set a few things straight.

1: 181.FM is not having finance trouble. If that was the case why would we still be adding additional capacity monthly, and why would we be adding additional formats? Better get your story straight before you jump on the bashing bandwagon.

2: DHM totally ripped 181.FM and Sky.FM to create their site. Go over there and check their site out. I encourage everyone to do so. It is loaded with errors, they copied text and formatting word for word. I'm not here to bash them or anyone else. But don't go spreading drama and gossip about nothing you know of.

181.FM is doing very well. In fact we are pushing over 45,000 listeners at peak. Does that sound like we are going anywhere? DHM and .977 need to worry about their own networks and we will worry about ours.

Finally, the only reason we asked for bandwidth donations was to see if anyone was willing to kick in some bandwidth. Never hurts to ask! I don't see anyone bashing Ari and DI.FM for asking for bandwidth.
