$191K for Earlmart CP???

What I’m I missing? That station can’t be moved and good luck building it out somewhere that would have decent coverage… why would they pay so much? What am I not seeing?

Cost less than a house….lol

I know a broadcast engineer out east who bought one station awhile back and started buying a few more.. the first one or two, were cheaper than a house and with some careful planning, provided more return on investment then buying a house or just putting the money in the bank. He started doing well and bought a few more established, more expensive stations.

Serious. this is what he told me when i said "you need more radio stations like we all need a hole in the head"

this is within the last 2-3 years.

The K228GB translator, certainly a well-engineered "coverage monster", would have needed to change frequency or modify its antenna pattern in any case, even if the new Earlimart station were on a 330' tower and running 6kw ERP (max allowed) from downtown Earlimart. I hope KRWI can figure out a solution..

Oh yes, the thread title is somewhat a misnomer. The Auction 109 winner requested a 35% new-entrant credit so the layout was.more like $126K and change... a little more reasonable.

The K228GB translator was to provide coverage in Tulare-Visalia area where KNFS-LP at 98.1 interfered with KRWI's 98.1 signal. There are not many open spots to move K228GB. Probably with a tight directional away from Bakersfield they could move it to 92.3 or 100.1. I am just guessing from memory what is open in that area for them to move. If I owned KRWI I would try to buy the new station on 93.5.

The KRWI translator K228GB on 93.5 would need to move to another channel.
The station has already began changing their imaging from "Rewind 98.1 and 93.5" to just "Rewind 98.1"

When a translator is forced to move due to a new full power station, what is the time limit?

The co-channel translator should be able to stay operating until the new Earlimart station requests " Program Test Authority".. Heck, that could be three years from now ... no worries man...
