I was listening to WLS while living on the southside of Atlanta one night back in 1976 during the winter time using an old Sears transister am radio. You had to turn it a certain way to get WLS from Chicago, and it came in clearly. A friend of mine was spending the night and did not know that I had tuned to WLS. We were listening to great 70's tunes of that day from Musicradio WLS. The DJ gave the weather report as having snow that night in the forecast. My buddy thought we were getting snow here in Atlanta. He got real excited and thought school might get cancelled. Of course it was only going down to the upper 40's that night here in Atlanta. That was how clear WLS came into Atlanta, and it sounded local.
