I went thru USAF basic at Lackland and the cook made us listen to country "K Buck" radio. What station would that have been? I had just passed my First Phone test before going in and as a new Engineer I thought the station was the best I'd heard until then.

KBUC-FM, Terrill Hills, TX. 106.3 FM, duplcating KBUC AM, San Antonio, 1310 5 kw days.

KBUC-AM was a daytimer back then when FM stations were used to continue service past sunset.
KBUC-FM later upgraded to 107.5 and is now KXTN.

I believe their competitor back then was K-BER which IIRC was 1150 daytime on the AM and 100.3 on the FM.

BTW-- The KBUC calls have migrated south to a BMP country rimshot FM in the valley licensed to Raymondville. It runs a satellite format. KBER is now a big time rock station in Utah.
