1970s Connecticut Radio

That first person on WDRC-FM sounds like Mike Holland. 3:50 into to the audio: it's Bill Lenkey on WTIC-FM, at it's beginning when it was doing the Mike Josephs format as 96-Ticks. Lenkey is now Broadway Bill Lee on CBS-FM in the afternoon.

Also, there's a clip of Westport's WDJF 108FM prior to any of it's rock music formats, which I believe would make it prior to 1977 or perhaps earlier.

It's definitely 1977, The Emotions' "Best of My Love" came out in 1977. It's at #11 on the TIC-FM music survey on this tape, and it hit #1 in August of 77, so there's a good chance that this is June/July 1977 (if everything on the tape was recorded at the same time.)

I lived in New London, Ct from 1977-78, so here are a few of my radio memories:

WSUB simulcasted at 980 AM and 105.5 FM. Don Turner was the morning man while Michael Bernz did the evenings. The format after 6 PM was Album Rock. Glen Brown did an oldies show on Sunday night.

WTYD at 100.9 FM was a beautiful music station.

WNLC was at 1510 AM with a very weak signal to protect 1510 in Boston.

WERI-FM at 103.7 FM was very popular in New London County since at time their transmitter was near Westerly.

You're making the assumption that all the clips showcased were recorded at the same relative time, which wasn't always the case of some of the radio aircheck clips I've come across on YT. It does seem your estimation would be quite close, as from the information I pulled from the WMMM/WDJF station scrapbook that 108 FM was running a beautiful music format up until August of 1997 when a soft rock and jazz format was adopted. I chronicled this on the page Programming Changes for WDJF-FM on the WMMM tribute site.

That small clip is probably the oldest clip of WDJF that's been preserved.

That's why I said "if everything on the tape was recorded at the same time." There's a really good chance it wasn't, I know some of my own tapes span a year or more.
