We have a treat for this Friday night's show! The infamous Dave Rabbit of a short-lived 1971 Vietnam pirate station, Radio First Termer will be joining us. The Radio Racket is an internet audio show which discusses broadcasting related topics. The show airs Friday nights at 10pm eastern on www.audio18.com.
Broadcasting from the second floor of a Saigon whorehouse, a small group of soldiers sought to bring to the air an alternative to the "crappy" AFVN programming as they put it. They only broadcast 21 shows, of which just one show is known to exist on tape. Endless talk of sex, drugs, and the war in between "hard acid" rock made this underground station incredibly popular with the troops.
For years, Dave Rabbit's identity was a mystery and many tribute websites have popped up trying to determine who the mystery DJ was. In February, Dave Rabbit finally came forward and put all mystery to rest. A fantastic story of his accounts of Radio First Termer can be read here:

Also, the only known recording of Radio First Termer can be heard RIGHT NOW at audio18.com. We will loop this 52 minute scoped aircheck until Friday at 10pm. Great listening!
