1980's Historians? [re 1150AM facility]

Trying to find someone who was around when 1150 moved out of the (very) old KRSC building on 4th Ave. S. and over to lower Queen Anne....?

I remember going to that building when I was a little guy when my dad worked at KAYO. Andy's Diner just a few feet away....ah yes!!! For info on the old KRSC-KAYO building on 4th Avenue South, I'd say you might want to e-mail Gene Larson who worked there in the 70's. He's now an artist in Miles City, Montana. I remember as a kid Gene worked on-air at KFKF and he did great cartoon likenesses of all the KFKF air staff----that proudly hung on the station's lobby walls there in Bellevue Square. Here's Gene's e-mail. He's also got some great airchecks from the Country KAYO days, and from the days in the the mid to late 50's when they played rock-n-roll. He recently sent me an aircheck of my dad(Jack Hemingway) from 1960 at 1590/KTIX....most kewl!! I didn't really have any aircheck of my dad and now I do......he and I sound quite a bit alike....my dad was so smooth on the air....unbelievable......guess he passed on some of those genes to me....thanks dad!!!

Thanks, JJ --- will contact Gene. Glad you scored some tape of your dad. Didn't realize you had none ... so will keep my ears and eyes peeled for you --- am going through tons of archives right now trying to find relevant stuff of Lan.

Reason for the 80's query (in case anyone else can help) is we're curious whatever became of the KAYO version of the Graumann Chinese theater concrete walk-of-fame when the building was demolished. Bnch of artists would visit and leave their imprints in concrete...wondering if that is now part of a foundation in a 4th Ave. Parkade or if someone actually had the foresight to save that!!! Similarly, wonder whatever happened to all those concrete imprints at the old Peaches record store on 45th in the U. Dist. maybe they are still there since that building IS still around!!?

I seem to recall hearing that before the building was demolished, the "Walk of Country Stars" was returned to previous owner Jessica Longston who took the KAYO call letters back to Aberdeen. I remember the women who worked there hated it because they were always getting their heels caught in one of the handprints.

I think they may have been saved as well, but I'm pretty sure they're not there anymore.
