1991 WXBQ Aircheck

I have now posted a cassette recording with over 30 minutes of WXBQ's overnight shift with Steve Grant from 1991.

This is an example of country radio from more-less one year exactly before "Achy Breaky" murdered Music Row.

A heads-up here: With all the Tri-Cities airchecks starting to hog up that page, I'm planning on taking them off of there, and putting them on a new Tri-Cities radio page. So watch for that!

Steve Grant used to be PD for Holston Valley Broadcasting, and I think at one time maybe for WKIN in Kingsport as well before doing overnights at Rabbitland. He did overnights there for several years. I heard a few years back that he had died.

Steve Grant never walked or haunted the hallowed halls of 1320 WKIN

My sincerest apologies, Mr. Stud. I did not mean to desecrate the hallowed halls of WKIN with that comment, if I did. Like I said, I wasn't sure...I thought I had heard that at some point. By the way, you ever hear from John Boy Kelly any?

He seems to have faded away into comfortable obscurity....probably looking after his in-laws or something equally inane....or maybe just enjoying his grandchild with his partner in life...John Woman
