2.5 Men's Angus T. Jones Slams His Own Show

He only gets that money for the episodes he appears in right?

He probably is bored and looking for an out. Let's face it, he's made enough money to live forever, IF he's smart, so he's not really biting the hand that feeds him.

There have been more than one show of the series where Jones has exactly one scene or line. That's not impressing anyone because W.C. Fields he ain't.

In the show's beginning he was an essential part of the scenario and although his character wasn't really worth much he did add to the show's concept and running gag lines.

Now he's grown up and they have no idea what to do with him. One child has been replaced by Aston Kutcher yet they keep the other one around.

In terms of earning money he is one of the most fortunate kids in Hollywood. He isn't going anywhere after this gig because his "cute little SOB" persona is worn out and gone. He would do himself and all around him a big favor to shut his trap, take the money and exit out of this piece-of-junk show gracefully and go live a quiet life somewhere in the Bible Belt if he should so desire.

It does seem very hypocritical... I am sure he could come to some arrangement with CBS and the producers to leave the show... and I only seen a few episodes this season and he is only on very briefly. If he does not like being on the show then maybe he should donate the money he earns from the show to his church.

I find the most interesting part of his tirade to be about what television does to your brain, in general. Its an interesting parallel for someone who has, by his own admission, started seriously studying the Bible just recently and now finds what he does for a living to be abhorrent.

Some people would point out that taking anything to its extreme, whether it be the lessons taught by the Bible or what you learn by watching TV, can be dangerous.

He could be figuring his best career option from now on is to either hit the religious TV circuit, find a gig with Pat Robertson, or follow Kirk Cameron (whose acting chops were limited and weren't going to take him much further) into the evangelical film/media production realm.

Some child actors become likable adult TV actors and then grow into great filmmakers, like Ron Howard, or A-list award winning film performers like Jodie Foster or Drew Barrymore. We're not talking about that level of talent here.

More like most members of Hal Roach's "Our Gang" cast who reached puberty and thence disappeared into the oblivion of tragic circumstances and invisibility.

This.

I couldn't agree more.

He's 19. It's not like he came to this conclusion when he was 12, and has been scraping up the bucks along the way. It's a pretty recent conclusion.
Kudos for him expressing his opinion. It's what millions of people do every day, with most people putting less at risk than $300,000 an episode.

Angus' character is shipped overseas. We discover that Ashton Kutcher's character fathered a child eight years ago.

Ta-da!

Or bring in Ted McGinley as an neighbor....

Ta-done!

He's barely on the show this season anyway, I wonder if his outburst came about because he's not getting screen time, or if it went the other way around.

Five years from now Jones will be flat broke after his so-called church takes most if not all of his money.

Two-and-a-Half Men still might pull in decent ratings for CBS but the show is nothing compared to what it used to be.

Charlie Sheen made the show. Kutcher is no Charlie Sheen. Stick to selling cameras Ashton and dating Mila Kunis.

Jon Cryer's character of Alan has gone from funny to pathetic.

"Berta", who I thought had some of the best comedic lines has virtually been written out of the show.

As for Angus: Funny as a little kid; virtually non existent as a teenager when it comes to his character Jake.

At this rate 2 1/2 Men could end up being just called "Men" or could (and in my opinion should) be cancelled after next season.

How 'bout this season? Charlie Sheen WAS Two and a Half Men. The new Ashton Kutcher one has been pathetic. I think I've watched one Ashton episode, and that was OK-but nothing can beat Charlie, Alan and young Jake. Oh, and Berta too...

Why is everyone asuming that the church that Angus T. Jones is a member of is not a true church but a cult? I've never heard of the church until yesterday, so I know very little about this particular church. It may be a cult, but then again, it may not be a cult. Why is it that everytime some one turns their life around and starts professing that they found religion or develop a relationship with Christ, we are so quick to judge them as going off the deep end or that the church or religious sect they are now affliated with is a cult? Yet, when someone becomes a muslim or a Sciencetogolist, we are suppose to question their beliefs?

I don't think its devotion to any particular faith that most people take exception to, but when someone renounces all that they have seemingly stood for and/or profited off of that people take exception. Its a personal choice to have faith or not, and to be devout isn't intrinsically a bad thing. However, when any religion forces someone to take such a hard line against something that they had no problem with before, I think it leads many people to believe that there is a certain level of impropriety within that church.

One does not need to belong to any religion to have faith. Hell I can go on the internet today and become an ordained minister by filling out some forms and paying a fee.

As for Jones urging people not to watch the show then why doesn't he back up his words with action and just quit?

It is hypocritical of Jones on one hand to call the program "filth" but then accept the $300,000 a year he's getting paid to appear. Let's also not forget the money he's making with the show's reruns.
