2 bay on the JBR tower

Just passed the 2 year old newer tower of JBR on Naamans road, at the very top a new 2 bay antenna is up. I passed this site a few weeks ago and the top was bare. I would figure its around 550 feet, the 500 foot JBR bays are about 3/4 up the tower, and their backup is lower. Could this be JBR adding an HD-2, I don't know if new bays are needed for HD's or if the same ones for the main signal are used. Or could it be a LP coming on board. Mike from Del if you are in the area take a look....

I don't live near WJBR and rarely if ever go near their location. Sorry. As it turned out, I was up near there a couple of days ago, but not on Ebright Road or Naaman's so I didn't see their towers.

I know JBR was tinkering with an oldies format on their HD-2, that is if they ever converted to HD, it was reported. I guess we will just have to monitor the FM band and see what comes up in the near future.

Take it from an inside source there is no HD, so how are they toying with an oldies format on HD 2. When they dont even have an HD-1.

I know JBR has no HD's, but last summer in the Wilmington Journal, there was an article about JBR adding HD and programming Oldies on their HD-2, but like I stated, so far there is no HD's coming out of that tower even though the HD radio site claims its coming soon.

From the site:

WJBR Soon in HD 99.5 FM AC, Beasley Broadcast Group

Same with the word on the street from WPST, going HD and their HD-2 going full blow Alternative, that was from last Spring.

I do know that Clear Channel owns the WJBR tower site and the transmitter building that once housed the old studios when Jack and Jane Reynolds owned the station in the 60's and 70's. Beasley now pays CC rent for the tower space. Do good, be well and happy.

The FCC database shows no other licensed FMs at those geographical coordinates other than the WJBR main and aux antennas. Perhaps WJBR is replacing one of their antennas, raising the center of radiation to near the top of the tower and lowering the power. Although I see no application for a minor change. My understanding of the rules is that you can't change your FM center of radiation (i.e. the center of the antenna) without a Consruction Permit.
