2 CBS shows renewed

Once again, the bulk of the schedule remains steady.

Could we be back to one CSI by fall?

The Mike & Molly Facebook Page reported they have been renewed for a 3rd season.

The Undercover Boss Facebook Page reported they have been renewed for a 4th season.

Make it four shows renewed...NCIS and NCIS LA both renewed according to thier facebook pages.

As someone age 50 plus..and a bit on the bigger side, "Mike and Molly" comes across about as close to reality as you can get. While sometimes predictable, the humor and personality come across very well...and the rotation of supporting characters means that no one character will burn out.

Here's hoping they keep it light, and not shift into bitter mode ala "Everybody Loves Raymond". That show was nearly unwatchable the last two seasons because of all the cheap shots and low blows.

Still in negotiations....not everything gets done at once.

Given the price paid for Kutcher for this year, they may be trying to get him to take a pay cut to come back next year. The show is solid, amazingly enough. I really expected it to fail given all the changes and the unbelievable plot shift. Add to that the fact that the supporting cast has been all but written out of the series entirely and I'm utterly shocked it is still one of the top performing shows.

At this point, I'd expect that it would be renewed for at least another season. Beyond that, who knows. CBS has so many strong comedies that they could EASILY slide Mike and Molly back to 9, or Two Broke Girls up to 9 and launch a new sitcom. With that said, however, I believe next year is the last year for How I Met Your Mother, so they may not want to launch two new comedies in the same year.

Not surprisingly, the shows yet to be renewed include "the Good Wife", "Unforgettable", "CSI: Miami", "CSI: NY", "Rob", and the dead on arrival "A Gifted Man"

As we approach the upfronts, it should be interesting to see if any of these get a late pick-up or if they're all toast. I imagine at least 2 of the 4 dramas will survive. It seems plausible that they'll pick up "The Good Wife" because its still a critical darling and doesn't perform terribly, and "CSI: Miami" because they own it and it still does well internationally and its all about those syndication dollars.

I imagine if the rumors are true regarding possibly expanding to a second hour of comedies on Thursday, then we could see "the Mentalist" or "Person of Interest" shift to Tuesdays at 10pm to replace the most likely departing "Unforgettable". I think it really at hinges on the return of "Two and a Half Men" though, and the suits realizing that next year is also the last year of "How I Met Your Mother"- so keeping Monday stable beyond next season is definitely a concern. They've had a lock on the comedy on Mondays going back to the early 90s with shows like "Murphy Brown" and have forced the other networks to counterprogram with shows like "Dancing with the Stars", "The Voice" and dramas on Fox.

CBS has 'owned' Monday night comedy since long before 'Murphy Brown'...as far back as 'M*A*S*H', which moved to that night in early 1978, and even further, if you include 'Rhoda', all the Lucy shows, Andy Griffith, Danny Thomas, etc.
