2 different markets from Mount Diablo

How can 2 different stations, 42 & 64, broadcasting from Mount Diablo server 2 different markets. San Francisco and Sacramento respectively. I remember when 64 was KFTL and served Sacramento, Stockton and San Francisco back in the 80's.

Two different cities of licenses..

42- KTNC - Concord (which is in the San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose market)
64 - KTFK - Stockton (which is in the Sacramento-Stockton-Modesto market)

I remembered when KFTL had specialized programming back in the Bay area back in 1996-99 when some old shows aired on KFTL. Unfortunately, Harold Camping the stations owner of KFTL sold the station to Univision in 2003 and relaunched the station as present day KTFK 64 Telefutura in January, 2004 which can still be seen in most of the Bay Area. KTNC was originally like KFTL a religious station in the beginning of their days, but later on went into a general entertainment station (In 1998 the short lived revival "Match Game" aired on KTNC every night from 7-8 PM along with The Country Music Channel from 6-7 PM). In 2000-2001, KTNC affiliated with TV Atzeca and stayed that way until 2006 when TV Atzeca moved to a sub-channel of KBWB. KTNC is now just a independent spanish station, however Channel 42 is available on Dish Network's San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose along with Sacramento-Stockton-Modesto channel lineups. Direct TV only carries KTNC in the SF Market. As for KFTL, it is now on Channel 28 as a low-powered TV station serving the Bay Area.

On DirecTV, KTNC was replaced in the Sacramento market by KBWB-DT 20.4, carrying Azteca America -- which is now available in Sacramento via Bustos Media's KSTV-LP 32. Comcast still carries KTNC.

KOVR originally was at Mt Diablo too, it moved when it started targeting Stockton/Sacromento instead of San Francisco (at least according to Wikipeida)

Funny thing though, CHANNEL 42 (KFCB as well as KTNC) has maintained studios in CONCORD. The same can't be said about CHANNEL 64 though. Both KFTL as well as its successor has NEVER maintained studios, let alone even a Sales Office in STOCKTON. Of all the STOCKTON licensed TV Stations, both KOVR TV 13 as well as KQCA TV 58 has sales offices in STOCKTON. In its early years,KOVR, from 1954 until the mid 1970's, the original studios were in STOCKTON on MINER STREET with a NEWS BUREAU in SACRAMENTO. That changed in the mid 1970's and everything flip flopped with the studios moving to SACRAMENTO (on ARDEN WAY) and the NEWS BUREAU to STOCKTON. When CHANNEL 58 first signed on the air in 1986 as INDEPENDENT TV STATION, KSCH CHANNEL 58 (owned by WILLIAM SCHYULER) its studios and sales office was located IN STOCKTON (in the WATERFRONT WAREHOUSE)but in 1988, they moved their studios to RANCHO CORDOVA, near SACRAMENTO. And let's not forget about KNOX LARUE'S KTVU CHANNEL 36 in the 1950's? Back to CHANNEL 64, When HAROLD CAMPING owned it as KFTL, the studios were in SAN LEANDRO, Are they still there as KTFK?

KTFK Studio is located in KUVS studios in Arden Arcade area of Sacramento. Right across the street from the Shopping Mall. The originally KFTL 64 now 28 still located in Oakland/San Leandro area off of Hegenberger Rd.

To bump an 11-year-old thread...

KTNC now channel shares with KCNS and KEMO , transmitting from Sutro Tower. KTFK now transmits from Walnut Grove. Neither station is on cable in the other's market.
