They have dorms out there, a cafe, etc. Also a few oil wells and some wildlife.
Last time I went thru Tonopah was on the way home from the PNW - took the scenic route.Tonopah is at a highway intersection and has a population of 2,200, or a small town. It would be tough to run a radio station in a town that size now compared to several decades ago in same-sized towns had stations that flourished. It would likely need to be operated by the person or couple that owns it, likely without employees.

Wasn't there at one time an LPFM there in town?
Who wasn't "essentially run into the ground and deleted?" The station, or the Los Alamos employee?Tonopah had a commercial FM owned by a guy who was an employee at los alamos laboritories.... and wasnt essentially run into the ground and deleted

K.M., I tried going to fcc.org, but it's not opening, and eventually timed out. Technically we're in a government shutdown, is this the problem?*sigh*
Even after I used Michi's site as my example, we're still doing the "Radio-Locator" thing ...
What does it take to get people to understand that they are not a reliably accurate source?
Not even going to the right url, look againK.M., I tried going to fcc.org, but it's not opening, and eventually timed out. Technically we're in a government shutdown, is this the problem?
