The New year will bring more changes to the radio dial

Jerry Springer is giving up on his radio show and Jerry Thomas is retiring after a long history on 55KRC mornings.

Will 1360 drop AA all together or bring in a new show 9-12noon?


Craig Kopp will be solo or will CC bring in a new morning show?
 
Neither of these events is surprising.

Thomas is 67 and said he wanted to retire at the end of this contract.

Springer just had too much going on with TV and film deals.

Thomas leaving could be a convenient way for CC to cut payroll. Whether they let Kopp fly solo, bring in something syndicated, or have another CC talent come in, I am sure they will figure out a way to save some money with this situation, given that Thomas was well paid.

There are others in the market approaching the "retirement" milestone. Jim Labarbara and Dusty Rhodes both come to mind; both must be well into their sixties. Will they be looking to relocate to Florida any time soon??
 
I just heard about Springer giving up this morning. It was still somewhat of a surprise, though I can't say I listened too much anymore. I only hope a local show fills the slot, though I doubt that will happen.

I was expecting Jerry Thomas to retire for some time. That's another show which I haven't listened too for some time, simply tired of the endless annoying commercials...and also I never much cared for their hour long segments of Schadenfreude spent reading off news reports of other peoples miserys solely for the sake of a brief chuckle. I hope Kopp doesn't continue that practise. What an annoying way to start a day.
 
I say bring in Robin Wood.

It would add a female's perspective.

It would reunite Robin and Craig.

It would give promotions an angle. Oh wait, there ISN'T any promotions on 55KRC.

My prediction is Jerry Thomas Jr. and Johnathen Phillips ;)
And CC will drop the Revolution next week.
 
To be replaced with what? Cincinnati was just another dumping ground for a CC Syndication product, it just so happened that this time the host had a connection with the city. Plan on Stephanie Miller adding WSAI, as well as WDTW/Detroit, pretty much all that Jerry had left.
